The much awaited unveiling of the judges for the music reality tv show Nigerian Idol has been done. Organizers of the show announced D’banj, Simi and Obi Asika as judges for Nigerian Idol Season 7.
There has been questions and a lot of speculations on who are the judges of Nigerian Idol season 7. The announcement was made public by MultiChoice Nigeria on social media and on the Africa Magic platform on Tuesday 18th January 2022.
Popular radio and TV personality, IK Osakioduwa, will be returning as the host for this Season 7 alongside Obi Asika, who makes a comeback as judge in season 6.
WHO ARE THE JUDGES FOR NIGERIAN IDOL SEASON 7?
So there you have it, the judges for Nigerian Idol season 7 are D’banj, Simi and Obi Asika. Of three judges, both D’banj and Simi are new entrants to the show. Obi Asika was a judge in the last season of the show. As with the previous season, the show will hosted by IK Osakioduwa.
Speaking on the introduction of new judges for the new Season, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria Dr. Busola Tejumola said: “We could not think of a better trio to be the season’s judges than Obi Asika, D’banj and Simi. The three of them combined bring decades worth of experience in the music and entertainment business, as well as individual mastery of their crafts. We have no doubt that they will keep the viewers entertained in what will be a spectacular season!”
You would recall that season 7 judges were the the trio of DJ Sose, Obi Asika and Seyi Shay. There were a handful of criticism of the some of the judges regarding the musical competencies of the judges as well as their judgement skills. You would recall Seyi Shay got social media buzzing during the audition stages when she ‘condemned’ a contestant for poor performance.
WHEN WILL NIGERIAN IDOL SEASON 7 START?
The Nigerian Idol season 7 2022 show is scheduled to begin in February 2022. The start date has not been announced. So watch out!
In the sixth Season of Nigerian Idol, Kingdom Kroseide emerged winner after an intense musical contest involving over 3000 hopefuls from across the country, and over 16 million Votes recorded at the Finale. Following the completion of the online and physical Auditions last November, the countdown is officially on for the seventh Season of the show, which premieres February 2022 on DStv and GOtv.
With D’banj, Simi and Obi Asika unveiled as judges for Nigerian Idol season 7 show, all is set for the show to begin on 6th February 2022. Contestants should watch out!
