It is a new era as MTN Nigeria on the 16th of February 2020 announced the launch of MTN Y’ello Star music reality TV show.
The MTN Y’ello Star music reality show is being seen as a replacement for the erstwhile MTN sponsored Project Fame West Africa which was discontinued after its 2016 edition. During the launch of the competition, MTN reiterated it “believe every hidden star and talent deserves a chance to shine bright.” The announcement was made at its headquarter in Lagos. The competition is to discover musical talents.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR MTN Y’ELLO STAR MUSIC REALITY SHOW
MTN has since been rolling out registration calls to prospective contestants. The registration steps are easy;
There are three ways to register for the MTN Y’ello Music Contest;
1. The Y’ello Star Website:
- Visit www.mtnonline.com/yellostar
- Fill the registration form
- Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
- Accept the terms and conditions
- Click the submit button
- You will get an email notification confirming your registration
2. myMTN App:
- Visit your Play or App Store
- Download the myMTN App
- Click on the Y’ello Star image on the homepage
- Fill the form registration
- Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
- Accept the terms and conditions
- Click the submit button
- You will get an email notification confirming your registration
3. Social Media:
- Upload a minute video of yourself singing on Instagram or Twitter
- Use the hashtag #MTNYelloStar and tag @mtnng
- You will receive an automated response from @mtnng
- Click the confirmation link
- Fill the form and submit
For Facebook
- Click the MTN Y’ello Star tab on the MTN Nigeria Facebook page
- Fill the registration form
- Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
- Click the submit button
- You will get an email notification confirming your registration
After successful submission on any of the above platforms, contestants are expected to share their entry to get their friends and family to vote for them.
MTN Y’ELLO STAR VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
It is important for contestants to adhere to the video submission guidelines below;
- All video submissions must be LIVE recordings of yourself singing any song of your choice. No lip synching, studio recordings or highly edited videos will be accepted.
- You may choose to sing acapella or use a live instrument i.e guitar, piano. Do not use backing tracks or instrumentals.
- Shoot your video in a bright/well-lit setting. We want to be able to see you.
- Do not use auto-tune.
- Check your video before submitting it and make sure the audio can be heard clearly.
- Submission videos should be no longer than 60 seconds.
- Video size should be no more than 150MB.
- Only one submission per applicant will be accepted.
WINNER OF MTN Y’ELLO STAR MUSIC REALITY TV SHOW
The winner of the MTN Y’ello Star music reality show will be awarded with the coverted crown as The Y’ello Star.
In addition, the winner will receive a brand new fully furnished house with an in-house studio, a brand new car, a recording deal and other enticing surprise rewards.

Y’ello Star is a musical platform created by MTN Nigeria to search for, discover, nurture, expose and launch music talents in young Nigerians. The competition was first announced to the public on February 16 2020.
The competition will take the nature of reality tv show, where contestants will be assembled in a house where their skills and talents are horned through lectures, guidance, mentoring and practical sessions by renowned teachers, artists who have distinguished themselves in the industry.
Through the contest, the winner, and runners up get prizes that will assist them in their musical aspirations.
